Fall 2013 Recap!
January 20, 2014 at 1:46 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentOur last post left off right at the end of Spring 2013. We had a BLAST this past summer.
Right after classes let out we had our annual Mother/Daughter brunch at the Boathouse Restaurant in Forest Park. It was a perfect morning, and we enjoyed the view of the pond!
June was a beauty rush as we voted for our gorgeous sister, Ellie Holtman, day and night! She competed in the 2013 Miss USA pageant in Vegas! Although she didn’t win the crown, we couldn’t have been more proud of her. She’s a beaut!
In July we were Boston crazed! 16 of our collegiate sisters made the trip out to Boston to meet up with fellow lambs and to celebrate LKS’s Centennial Anniversary. It was so cool to sit in the rooms that our founding sisters sat in 100 years ago.
We made new friends and had a great time. Shout out to our new favorite chapter: WE LOVE YOU ALPHA!
We got dressed up for the final gala and danced the night away. Until we meet again, Boston!
Once classes started up again, we were all about recruitment. Our Ted Drewes trip was a huge hit.
Our P1’s got their white coats…
…and our smoker dinner was bigger and better than ever!
We welcomed 24 amazing young women into our fraternity, and we couldn’t be more proud of each and every one of them. Welcome to the flock, baby lambs!
October 14, 2013 marked our Lambda Kappa Sigma’s 100th Anniversary. We are proud to continue on the traditions of our sisters that came before us.
Ironically, we faced our new friends at Alpha Chapter in the World Series this past semester. Although our Cardinals didn’t win, we’re happy that our sisters in Boston were able to taste sweet victory. No matter what ever happens though, our hearts belong to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Our 3rd annual Hoops 4 HOPE event was another hit this past semester:
And we were able to volunteer at Girls on the Run, Health Protection & Education Services (HPES), and Santa’s Helpers:
We look forward to what 2014 has in store for us!
Sending you infinite amounts of lamb love,
-The Sisters of Alpha Zeta
Another semester has flown by! (Spring 2013)
May 15, 2013 at 1:55 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentThis past semester was filled with great things for our chapter!
We kicked off the semester with the creation of our Facebook page. Be sure to check it out!
In February, we held a fundraiser called Hearts for Hope. We sold Valentine’s Day candy grams and donated the proceeds to our national philanthropy, Project Hope.
Intramural soccer also began, and we even made it to the first round of play offs! Go Killer Lambs!
For Valentine’s Day, we also held a cookie decorating night and hung out with a bunch of PNMs. It was a great turn out and we had a lot of fun.
We also had sisters participate in Master the Met, an event hosted by the American Lung Association. It involves racing up 42 flights of stairs in honor of those fighting lung disease.
One of our sisters also was greatly touched by the story of Ezra Matthews and his fight against Neuroblastoma. In honor of him, we held a puppy chow sale to raise awareness and donated the proceeds to Because of Ezra.
In March, we started Tab to the Top, a contest between the fraternities and faculty on campus to raise soda pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House Charity. We were able to collect a 75.9 pounds of tabs, which is about 91,080 tab tops!
On March 15, we had our annual spring recruitment event, and it was a blast! We were able to speak with many PNMs about our fraternity. We even had an amazing photo wall for girls to take pictures in front of. Check it out!
On April 2, we held our second annual Hoops for Hope! It included fun team events like Knockout, Hula Hoop Relay, Free Throw Contest, and Hula Hoop skill contest. Proceeds from this event went towards Project Hope, of course!
The second week of April was Greek Week, and we had a lot of fun collaborating with the other fraternities on campus. We were able to team up with Kappa Epsilon for a Bake Sale benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. It was a great week of Greek unity.
During Greek Week was Outreach and Advocacy Day, and all of STLCOP was able to participate. We had a few of our sisters go to St. Mary’s Hospital. They counseled patients on blood pressure, proper medication disposal, brown bag medications, and hidden dietary salts. One of our chapter’s advisors, Dr. Shin-Yu Lee, PharmD. (far right) helped coordinate the event.
We also had our annual formal this past April. The venue was gorgeous and we had a lot of fun!
On April 26th, our chapter won the title of St. Louis College of Pharmacy’s 2012-2013 Organization of the Year! Thank you so much for this honor!
Our wonderful sister, Lindsay Bell, also won the 2013 Orientation Leader of the Year! Congrats Lindz!
On April 27th, a few of our sisters were able to attend the Ladies in Pharmacy Leadership Conference. They were able to meet with LKS Alumni Starlin Haydon-Greatting.
That same morning, some of our sisters participated in the Color Run! Although it rained, they still had a ton of fun running through the color. Some of the proceeds from the run benefited the St. Louis Chapter of Autism Speaks.
We also had a great team of girls for intramural volleyball. Check out these sweet shirts!
On May 2nd, our LKS fashion team participated in the STLCOP Runway Show, and they won 1st place! Congrats to our fabulous models and fashionistas for representing LKS well!
On May 5th, our 6th year sisters graduated from St. Louis College of Pharmacy with their PharmD degrees! Congratulations, ladies!
We also had a blast this year at Lambda Chi Alpha’s Watermelon Bash.
On May 13, we celebrated our chapter’s 62nd Anniversary. We are so proud to continue the traditions and values of the sisters that came before us.
We are especially proud of our beautiful sister, Ellie Holtman, and all the work she has put into being Miss Missouri USA 2013! Vote for her NOW, every day until June 16 to help her get into the semifinals for Miss USA! Go Ellie!
Have a great summer! Lamb Love from the sisters of Lambda Kappa Sigma, Alpha Zeta Chapter.

Hygeia Day!
March 15, 2013 at 8:20 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentHappy Hygeia Day! Hygeia is the Greek goddess of health, cleanliness, and sanitation. She is a daughter of the god of medicine, Asclepius. While her father is often associated with healing, Hygeia is looked upon for the prevention of sickness and the promotion of health. Be on the lookout for various health events with our chapter of LKS throughout the semester such as Hoops for Hope, Medication Disposal Day, Healthy Living Event at St. Mary’s Clinic, HPES Long-Term Collaboration, the Ladies in Pharmacy Leadership Conference, and more!
Just an update :)
February 12, 2013 at 10:37 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentThe 2012 Fall Semester was full of great things for LKS!
On August 24, 2012 we celebrated with some of our sisters at their White Coat Ceremony, which marked their entry into the professional P1 year of pharmacy school. We couldn’t have been more proud as we watched each of them receive their white coat!
Recruitment season then officially began, and we held our yearly BBQ. This year, however, we were rained out, but we still had a great time meeting the PNMs.
After another fantastic smoker, we accepted 38 bids on Bid Drop, our biggest NMO Class yet!
They rocked the variety show, and got 2nd place! Way to go sisters! Check out their performance HERE.
October is flag football season, and we had a ton of fun playing. Shout out to Melvin for being such an awesome ref.
On November 4, 2012, our fraternity celebrated when one of our very own, Ellie Holtman, was crowned Miss Missouri USA 2013! Congratulations Ellie! You are truly beautiful inside and out! Tune in on June 16 to watch her compete in the Miss USA 2013 pageant at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada! And don’t forget to “Like” Ellie’s Facebook Page and follow her Twitter to keep up with her adventures!

A new year!
September 13, 2012 at 2:10 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentWith the start of a new year, there can be a lot of excitement and nervousness. This LKS chapter took the Greek world by storm with an excellent smoker with near 100 potential new members. Continuing with the growing tradition of NMO classes, 38 lovely ladies stood up and chose to wear the blue and gold. Keep checking in for updates!! (All photos courtesy of the amazing Eric Pan)
Hoops for Hope

Kayla Petty organized our first annual Hoops for Hope competition, which was held on November 3. Between the doughnut and t-shirt sales and the competition, over $600 dollars was raised for Project Hope!! It was a huge success. The students and faculty judges got a kick out of the hula hoop “freestyle,” and all of the competitions were fierce – especially Knockout and the Hula Hoop Relay. A huge thank you goes out to Kayla Petty for her amazing organizational skills. We also could not have done it without the support of all of our girls and the awesome student competitors (and some spectators)!
Boo Fest
November 3, 2011 at 1:11 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentThis past Sunday, the sisters of LKS sponsored a face painting booth at Boo Fest. Boo Fest takes place right on STLCOP campus with JDRF. We enjoyed all the smiling faces and great costumes 🙂
